Their entry makes them the second poker brand available to players in Portugal, competing to Stars Group’s PokerStars. Portuguese players will now be able to compete against 888Poker’s Spanish customers as a result of the new European interstate poker network.
The operator said the addition of the Portuguese arm of the product would increase player liquidity and allow it to offer customers a greater availability of games and formats.
Guy Cohen, 888 Holdings’ Head of B2C, said: “Portugal is a fantastic opportunity for 888 and we’re excited to be just the second poker operator to enter the market. Players love their poker, and there is incredible scope to grow its popularity.
In March, 888 announced the first phase of the roll-out of its new poker platform, Poker 8.
Developed from customer feedback and ongoing research, Cohen confirmed this platform would be available to players in Portugal.
