The Kuala Lumpur Police has busted yet another illegal online gambling center in Kuchai Luma. They raided a four-story luxury bungalow, which was a hub for online gambling. The police have also detained nine local suspects who were present on the premises. They have said that the ones arrested are employees and that further investigation is ongoing. It was reported that the illegal gambling operators had rented the bungalow, and it was located in a luxury residential area.
The police chief stated that all nine suspects were taken to the Brickfields district police headquarters. Later on, they were to be investigated under Section 4(1)(c) and (d) of the Betting Act 1953.
Online gambling is illegal in Malaysia. Earlier in April, eight more suspects were caught in a raid on two different locations on the same premises in Kuala Lumpur. The police had seized a modem and 15 laptops from the suspects. They said that the suspects were planning to set up a full-fledged online gambling center.
While the police had confirmed that they have also seized cash, the amount was undisclosed.
